This urban art festival spans 6 weeks all around the Civic District, featuring art installations responding to the theme “Traces and Echoes” during the Singapore Art Week; as well as Singapore’s rich history during the Bicentennial Edition. Also includes comedic performances from the likes of Kumar and Hirzi Zulkiflie.
When: 19 Jan–9 Feb
Where: Malay Heritage Centre
Artists respond to batik as a nod to this time-old art form, and we find Almostasthma’s particularly intriguing. The Singaporean prohibitory signs on traditionally Indonesian cloth is a distinctive visual: very reminiscent of Singapore-is-a-fine-city tourist t-shirts, in the best ways possible.

Singapore Really Really Free Market

This is a flea market of sorts… just Really, Really Free. Pick up trinkets with literally zero consequences to your wallet (and minimal impact on the environment), or if you’re in the midst of Marie Kondo-ing your home to minimalist perfection, pack your stuff and share them with others.

Witness experiences of South Asians all across our side of the world, including that of the Chetti Melaka, who brought with them rich socio-cultural traits that were adapted into local societies. This particular weekend, the IHC will celebrate Pongal: the harvest festival dedicated to the Sun God.
